Interview with Jayson Madson former BRHS player and current DSC player. The assignment on this one is easy. Find 3 things that stick out to you from the interview and elaborate on them in the comments. Tell me why they stick out to you and what you think you can do to emulate what he is saying.

1.You have to drop your bricks. He said before he could pitch in the state game he had to let go of the first game of the tournament and focus on the game to come. I have to do the same thing I can't let a mistake or our team being down get to me. I gotta let that go and focus on whats to come.2.I can look back and have good memories. I need to make today my banquets. I need to play everyday my hardest and work my hardest every practice in order to look back and have those fond memories. I gotta work as hard as I can. 3.Get ready for the next season. I pulled that one out of context but I feel that I lose to much focus during the off season. I lose a little commitment when we're not playing, but I need to at least work on my mental game.

1.I think that its important to remember that playing highschool baseball is somewhat of a blessing because you have been with your teamates for your whole life and that it all changes if you get to the college level so tresure your time in highschool when the game isnt so bussiness like2.Nutrition is something you really ought to focus on if you arent putting the right things in your body you wont be at your peak performance so you really ought to focus on what you are eating and not put so much junk in your body so you have the energy to go the distance.3 Leave the past in the past a mistake you made last inning will only follow you for the rest of the game if you allow it to some times you just need to flush things away and continue on live in the present moment and do what you need to do to get the out you need now youdont always have to blow kids away

what stuck out to me was that you can't treat baseball to business like you have to remember that it's a kids game and you have to enjoy it and have fun to be successful. I liked how he talked about putting stuff behind you. Even if you play a great game or a bad game you have to put it behind because the task at hand is the most important. Yeah it's great to play good and ride of that performance to the next game but don't get to high. And if you play bad learn from and don't get to low. You have to play baseball in the middle. Another thing i liked was when he talked about the weight room and nutrtion and the importance of it. I can tell a difference when i eat good to when i eat bad. And abviously the weight room is the key. I think that im a lot stronger then i was last year but need to hit the weight room hard.

    1. I have to strongly agree with nuke, we are so lucky we are able to be part of a team where we are all friends, and brothers in the same community. In college you will have learn to trust your teammates and be trusted in return, and it takes more than showing up to practice. Is high school much different? Even though we are all friends, we have to be one in purpose, and prove to everyone we will lie down all our cards on the table to win practices, games, and championships. 2. Like Jason said, the bears lost their first game in the play offs. They could have rolled over and just gone home, but that is not what they did. They got over it, made their minds up, and wanted to win those next games. I think that we have more than enough talent on this team, but our mental game is killing us. When we step on that field we need to give all we got, and know that we are going to make mistakes. I know i am going to work very hard on my routine this year: on the field and in the batters box. If we all just work on having more patience and controlling the things that we CAN control, we will win games.3. If we aren't treating our bodies with care, they won't preform for us like we want them to. Eat right, sleep right, keep your head in the classroom, spend time with your family and lift some weights for goodness sakes!

    1. What really stuck out to me was the fact that here in litte league and through high school he played with all these kids that he knew and went to college and didn't know any of the kids that he was playing with. 2. I liked how during the state tournment he pitched really hard the game you guys lost but than turned around pitched really hard in the state game and he pitched really good even though his arm was way tired. 3. It hit home with me when he said it hurt him when he wouldn't eat well during high school cause that is how I feel cause i don't eat as well as i know i should so i am going to work harder on this.

1 first thing for me would have to be the food i eat is alot of the time just junk food. so i really need to start eating healthy. 2 lifting would be something i could do more i really don't lift that much just at my house alone. 3 i have been palying with the same kids for my entire life i have pictures of me and tyson from pitching machine. i have to make sure that i realize how much fun this year should be and how importent it should be to me. i have to realize its just not going to be the same team i know and love.

    1. leaving the past behind. 2.He had a bad inning but had to go onto the next inning and forgot what happened in the past. 3. Even after the kid hit the home run leave that pitch behind, you cant take the pitch back, whats done is done.

    1. even if you lose in the preseason games it doesnt mean you arent a good team. it means you need to work better as a team and correct some errors and move on. if you lose you lose. get back on your feet and get em next time. but dont go in there thinking your a loser or being to cocky about things. 2.when you lose in the state tournament one time you have to put that game behind you move on to the next game and come out a 110 percent. you lost that game its over work as a team like you always do and get it done. 3. say you get hit hard one inning like jayson said and you still are on the mound next inning or even the next pitch. you cant let it get to you let it go flush it out and say lets go try to hit me again. you have to let things go and not let them carry over thats one key to success as a pitcher.
